Display cabinet
The idea behind this cabinet was inspired by my particular interest in collections and I know people with fantastic collections that have never seen the light of day. Simply because they have no where to display their items.
I wanted to create a personal display cabinet for people with modest collections that could also be placed in a hall or entry that would add interest to the space and allow viewing from above.
The internal faces of the drawer is lined with Sycamore and the contents of the drawer are also visible as the base of the cabinet and the top of the drawer compartment are both glass. This allows the light from the room and also from the LED lights fitted within the cabinet to drew attention to the contents.
Dimensions: H 1040mm x W 450mm x 350mm
The Myrtle was chosen for its rich even colour and a uniform even grain timber is used as the emphasis is meant to be on the contents of the cabinet.
A broad range of other Australian timbers are suitable for this piece such as Tasmanian Oak, Celery Top Pine, Jarrah etc.
