Blackwood Laminated Chair

These chairs were designed as occasional chairs with generous proportions and a high back inclined at an angle to allow the sitter to either relax, read or simply enjoy the view from a favourite vantage point.

Its fine lines and elegant curves give it poise whilst the use of monofilament shark line woven in the same fashion as a tennis racquet frame gives it a lightness and uncluttered appearance.

The woven seat and back provides excellent lumbar support whilst holding the sitter clear of the frame.

A fine handcrafted stainless steel chassis supports the seat base as it appears to float within the chair without the use of heavy joinery techniques.

This chair which is also available as a dining chair incorporates contemporary design with traditional hand cut joinery. It is constructed from tapered laminated components which are then hand shaped to create its elegant form.

 Dimension: H 1070mm x W 500mm x D 490mm

The example here is Tasmanian Blackwood, but a variety of Australian timbers are suitable such as Celery Top Pine, Tassie Oak, Myrtle and Jarrah.
